Try to correct your chemical imbalance through diet and nutrition. If you cut back on sugars and simple carbohydrates, you can vastly improve your situation. Sugar depletes neurotransmitters and is often the direct cause of ADHD. Getting your proper amino acids is important too so that your brain has the materials to manufacture your feel good neurotransmitters including dopamine.
If your looking for a chemical solution, which I don’t like to reccommend, then the antidepressant Welbutrin (Bupropion) may help. It has helped people with ADHD but not with a hundred percent success or anything. It is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor. If you want lighter stimulants you can try caffiene, nicotine, or psedoephedrine.

Avoid all simple carbohydrates which are sugars, pasta, and breads. Exercise, take vitamins, and check out ADD-care at http://www.add-care.com.
ADD-care has been studied at the Amen Clinic and met or beat the stimulants in brain imaging scans and the Conner’s impulsivity test.
