Will College Admissions Officers Sympathize With A Late Diagnosis Of Add/adhd?
Throughout highschool I have done fairly well academically. I have recieved A’s, B’s and C’s in honors and AP classes. However, to have done this well (decent), I have always had to spend more time and energy than the other people in my classes. This has not been testiment of my intellect however, considering my IQ is in the 96th percentile. This spring, after some testing, I did find that this was in fact due to A.D.D. Had I known this earlier it would have saved me much undue stress/self-doubt during my highschool years and my academic standing likely would have bee much better. When I apply to colleges, do you think that they will understand that I worked hard and COULD have down better with help (meds/counseling) and be easier on me. What high- powered schools tend to value such “human factors” ????
