Can You Ask Your Doctor To Try You On Ritalin For Adhd Even Without A Diagnosis?

I have been living with symptoms of ADHD since I was a kid. A doctor when I was younger mentioned that I may be ADHD but my parents did not like this suggestion. I am now 23 and am tired of the symptoms and am going to my doctor tom. Wanted to know the best way to approach this.
I have severe trouble settling my body down
trouble slowing my brain down
have to read things over and over again unless really interesting
impulsive which takes its toll on relationships in my life
easy to interrupt people
trouble sleeping all my life
any help is appreciated!
